AFG Woodworks prioritizes "wood with a story" and experimental design, incorporating personally significant stock (wood) and reclaimed or locally harvested lumber. We work with clients on a general concept, and then deliver an original piece. Each project is a blend of creativity, precision, and quality, showcasing the beauty of natural wood.
Journey into Wood
In wood - and the addition-by-subtraction that is woodworking - I've found a medium that allows me to translate vision to reality. This wasn't always the case. As a youth, paper and canvas wouldn't cooperate, and for a long time I didn't seek any artistic outlet.
A hair-brained idea for a Christmas gift circa 2013 brought me into my best friend's fathers workshop looking for tools and advice. The resulting shelf is still in use today, and the passion that undertaking ignited has burned hotter in the following decade plus.

One project a year during the post-college era became two or three in my later twenties, and then the pandemic ushered in a step change: I built a shop in my 11' x 13' Somerville condo basement, created an LLC, and hit the lumber yard.​​
